More about the blind bunny

We have had Eddie for a few months now, and have made a recent discovery that he is not only blind, but deaf too! I was wondering why he would jump when I reached into the cage to give him a pet, or why he didn't mind the vacuum or when Cliffy barked. Poor guy can't hear anything! His nose works very well, we put our hands in front of him before picking him up to let him know whe are there and then he looks up and is ready for a cuddle. This is a recent photo of Hannah feed Ed some of his favorite food, broccoli.

Tasty Fingers

Hannah was feeding Eddie a carrot--he finished the carrot and started nibbling Hannah's fingers. Hannah said it didn't really hurt, because he decided it was too squishy and warm for a carrot. We are looking forward to Christmas morning so we can see Eddie tunnel through the wrapping paper on the floor!

Eddie Update

Eddie loves the Christmas tree. He zips around the house and jumps over things on the floor with the greatest of ease... he has no idea he is blind. He mapped out the house in his little bunny brain and we messed him up when we put the Christmas Tree in the living room. He bumped into it a few times, and now loves to stand up and sniff the ornaments, with an occasional nibble.

Hiking in the Tennessee Mountains

We drove to Tennessee over Thanksgivings weekend and visited our good friends the Slaney's. This is a photo of a hike we took in the Tennessee Mountains on the way to Dollywood.

Day trip to DC

We went to visit the National Art Museum on one cold day. Jarod takes a moment to post on the National Mall in DC.

Our New Bunny!

This is Ed, our new bunny. We went to a local petstore yesterday to buy Cliffy some dogfood and found a new family member. We all thought Ed looked a lot like Cliffy, in a bunny kind of way, and we all wanted to take him home. The pet store owner told us Ed was blind in both eyes since he was a baby, but he is a happy bunny. Ed was free, and we set him up with a big cage and all the stuff a bunny needs to be comfortable. He is soft and fluffy and likes to sit in our laps and sniff us. Ed met cliffy up close and personal, Cliffy tasted his head and approved.
